About ASEAN cuisine
The Association of South East Asia National Street Food was formed on 8th August 1969 by the state government of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia which promotes Pan-Asianism inter-governmental co-operation and facilitates food cultural integration.
ASEAN “Street Food” was an official UNITED NATIONS observer by the mid 80’s. The traditional flavours of ASEAN “Street Food” pick up flavours among the five states influences which creates the aromatic and exciting fusion street food.
The ingredients used are a striking blend of:-
Fresh tropical rhizomatous spices for example, chilli, galangal, ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, arrowroot, pandan leaf and kaffir lime leaf among many others. Fresh herbs including mint, basil, cilantro, parsley, dill, oregano, rosemary, chives, sage, thyme, tarragon, marjoram. Dry culinary herbs for example saffron, annatto seed, bay leaf, caraway seed, cardamom, cayenne, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, fennel seed, nutmeg, paprika and star anise. Whole and ground nuts, acorns, almonds, cashews, chestnut, coconut, hazelnut, peanut and walnut. Bone-in Meals including pork ribs, chicken wings or drumsticks, duck with aromatic spices, fish and crustacean.
Wok Fusion, located at Snow Hill have a wide variety of freshly prepared dishes. All our dishes can be produced to accommodate our customer’s individual dietary intolerances. Dishes marked with a V are suitable for Vegetarians, those with a VE are suitable for Vegans, those marked with GF are gluten free. Whilst we take every step possible to ensure that cross-contact with foods containing gluten will not occur, all dishes are prepared in shared cooking and preparation areas.
